Adult-Use is Legal in Arizona, Now What?

On November 3, 2020, the Arizona cannabis community celebrated an exciting victory: the state’s voters officially passed Proposition 207, otherwise known as the Smart and Safe Act. After years of hard work and dedication from advocacy groups, dispensaries, and countless others within the industry, Arizona finally made the move to legalize recreational marijuana use for adults 21 and older.

What does this mean for you? If you’ve been interested in enhancing your sense of well-being with cannabis but don’t have an AZ medical marijuana card, the door to your new and improved lifestyle has been opened. But before you visit our dispensary to start shopping, here are a few things you’ll want to know first:

  • What are the Arizona laws for possession of marijuana? Adults 21 and older are allowed to possess up to 1 ounce (that’s 28 grams) of cannabis, including up to 5 grams of cannabis concentrates.

  • What types of cannabis can I buy in AZ? Cannabis flower, topicals, edibles, capsules, and salves can be purchased (and consumed) in our state. That means that you have plenty of flexibility for exploring new products from our Phoenix dispensary!

  • What about smoking cannabis in AZ? Publicly smoking cannabis is off the table, but you can enjoy your smoking experience in a private space (such as your home or a friend’s home). Keep in mind that tobacco smoking is prohibited in many areas of the state; smoking cannabis is also not allowed in those spaces.

We can’t wait to see you, and remember, you don’t need an AZ medical marijuana card to enter our dispensary in Phoenix. Learn more about how cannabis can contribute to wellness in your daily life by meeting with a cannabis concierge at Giving Tree Dispensary today.
